Overview
Overview
California is a cyclist’s playground, and our Sea Otter Tour captures the very best of it. Starting in Sausalito beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, we’ll spin through San Francisco’s iconic landmarks, climb into the quiet redwoods of Marin, and summit Mt. Tamalpais, the Bay Area’s crown jewel. Each day balances challenging climbs like Twin Peaks, Camino Alto, and the rolling Seven Sisters Ridge with time to soak up the scenery, snap photos, and enjoy coastal café stops. This is not just about kilometres—it’s about experiencing the character and soul of Northern California on two wheels.
Midweek, we transfer south to Monterey for the world’s largest cycling festival: the legendary Sea Otter Classic. Riders can take on the Gran Fondo—choosing between a 50-mile or 90-mile route—supported by professional race crews, feed zones, and the roar of the festival atmosphere. Off the bike, you’ll wander through the bustling expo, test the latest gear, and celebrate the spirit of cycling with thousands of enthusiasts from around the globe.
The final chapter unfolds in Woodside, the spiritual home of Silicon Valley cycling. Shaded climbs like Kings Mountain Road, Old La Honda, and the remote Tunitas Creek deliver a grand finale worthy of the world’s best. With van support, carefully chosen routes, and plenty of group camaraderie, the Sea Otter Tour offers a perfect blend of festival excitement, iconic climbs, and unforgettable Californian scenery.

Do I need to speak the local language?
Do I need to speak the local language?
No, not at all but of course the usual greetings and pleasantries always help.
Your trip guides are either native speakers or have a limited vocabulary of the local language and will help you out should you need. You will find that since the amalgamation of European countries under the EU, many locals will understand some English, as long as you speak clearly and avoid using contractions (i.e I’ve, isn’t, they’ll, won’t, shouldn’t).
If you are really stuck, a patient game of charades with locals can often be a fun experience, and communicate a message.
